Common Questions

When to arrive?

Please arrive 30 minutes early the first day.

Check in at the registration desk located in our lobby.

We encourage early arrival each week.  Allow adequate time (15 minutes) to put skates on and prepare for class.

Each week you will meet your instructor at the same on-ice location.

What to Wear?

Warm Jacket/clothing and gloves or mittens.

Helmets (Bicycle) are strongly recommended for the beginners.

Thin long socks that cover ankles fully.

Rental Skates are included with your class tuition.

If you are new to skating, we recommend using our rental figure skates.   The blade is longer and will provide more stability.  You can transfer to hockey skates at any time upon feeling comfortable.

What is the structure of the classes?

Most of our series run 6 or 7 consecutive weeks with a few exceptions throughout the year.

Week 1-7         30 minutes’ instruction followed by 30 minutes’ practice time/private lesson time

We will often will do evaluations proceeding the last class day.

Starting July 2016 we are adopting the new curriculum of Learn to Skate USA.  Some Class Levels are combined.

How fast will I progress through the basic skills class levels?

It generally takes more than one class series to meet class level requirements
